Summary

National Trust has developed sector-leading carbon accounting and reporting capabilities in recent years to support its response to the global climate emergency. However, this is a dynamic field and there is always need for improvement and innovation. We now have an exciting opportunity for an individual with the passion, skills and knowledge to help us reimagine our approach to measuring and reducing carbon in our global supply chain.So, we are looking for a Data Delivery Manager – Carbon to join us on an 18-month contract. You’ll be part of our Data Team, working closely with our Climate and Environment colleagues (to understand their carbon accounting needs), our Procurement teams (to help them build robust carbon accounting in their processes) and IT developers (to enhance our toolset to monitor progress to carbon Net Zero).

What it's like to work here

You’ll report to the Data Programme Manager within the Data Team. Your primary clients will be the Head of Data and the Senior Consultant on Low Carbon. Your contractual location will be our head office in Swindon and there will be an expectation for you to attend the office. However, there is flexibility on where you are based at other times. You will be required to work at a National Trust location for 40-60% of your working week. This will be discussed in more detail at interview.

Additional UK travel may be required to interact with subject matter experts and suppliers.

What you'll be doing

You’ll be accountable for delivering the tools, reports, processes and training/awareness needed for National Trust to transparently account for and track carbon in its purchased goods and services. To do this, you’ll bring together a diverse range of procurement, low carbon and IT subject matter experts, building consensus on the best way to measure, record and report carbon and identify initiatives to reduce or remove carbon from the supply chain. You’ll plan and oversee the delivery of several project phases that will incrementally deliver these tools, processes and reports.The ideal candidate will have worked in an analytical environment, helping organisations identify and solve business problems using a variety of data modelling and presentation tools and techniques. This may suit someone who has worked as a Data Scientist, Data Engineer, Business Intelligence Engineer or Analytics Consultant or similar. Familiarity with carbon accounting and supply chains is not essential but would be an advantage.

Who we're looking for

We’re looking for a delivery manager who has helped organisations solve problems using data analysis, data modelling and data presentation tools & techniques. You don’t need to have all the knowledge, skills and experience listed; this is just to provide a full picture of what’s possible in this role. But we’d love to hear from you if you have experience:

  • Helping teams discover and document their data handling and reporting requirements.
  • Data modelling, data manipulation and data presentation
  • Handling large datasets using tools such as Excel, Python, R and SQL.
  • Collaboratively working across disparate suppliers, stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
  • Presenting complex ideas in an accessible way to diverse audiences.
