Data Governance ManagerHybrid, Manchester/Newcastle OR Sheffield 2 days per week on site March 2025Inside IR35You will:
- Work on the design and implementation of practical data governance solutions to support organisational needs.
- Identify opportunities and make recommendations to improve the quality and trustworthiness of data throughout the organisation.
- Implement and establish wider data management competencies.
- Apply data governance to optimise the safety and value of data throughout the data life cycle and work within the organisation to minimise data risks and increase data literacy.
The essential criteria for this role are:
- Sound knowledge and understanding of Data Protection, particularly of the data sharing components of UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, including the application of Lawful Basis and Legal Gateways
- Experience in the drafting, reviewing or assurance of Data Sharing Agreements / Memoranda of Understandings.
- Effectively advising on a variety of projects in different stages of development, with varying degrees of priority, ensuring compliance with relevant policies and standards across the business.
- Working with Business Areas to help implement and continually improve policies, procedures and standards as well as any associated products.
- Ensuring that users of data understand their responsibilities, the departmental policy, relevant procedures and standards, including developing and conducting training sessions with colleagues.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to confidently deliver robust advice, build and support a data stewardship network, communicating with a range of stakeholders in a clear, honest and enthusiastic way in order to build trust. Explain complex issues in a way that is easy to understand.
- Previous experience of working for a government department.
- Confidence with relevant legal subject matter, e.g. reviewing and applying a legislative framework to a process
- Knowledge of/experience with the delivery of social security in England and Wales
