Job Title: Data Protection & Information Governance Lead

Reports To: Head of Legal & Compliance (HoLC), who is also the Company Secretary 

Team: Legal and Governance Team

Location: Hybrid home/office working, with the head office in Burgess Hill 

Main Purpose: As a Data Protection & Information Governance Lead, where you will oversee the day-to-day operation and delivery of information governance and data protection. You will manage the IG Framework, including policies, procedures, and standards for data quality, compliance, and records management. Your role will involve advising and training colleagues, supporting the Data Protection Officer, and leading a team of Local Information Governance Leads.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement organisation-wide IG Work Plan, policies, and procedures.
• Ensure efficient, lawful information management and disposal.
• Maintain Records of Processing Activity and IG/DP Risk Register.
• Advocate for IG and DP compliance, providing training and advice.
• Manage IG/DP enquiries and support policy implementation.
• Lead a team of local Information Governance Leads.
• Conduct IG/DP audits and ensure compliance with legislation.
• Collaborate with Legal & Compliance and Technology departments on data management.

Key Skills, Experience & Qualifications:

• Data protection or information governance qualification (e.g., CIPP/E or CIPM).
• Experience in in-house, not-for-profit, and health & social care sectors is desirable.
• High attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Self-motivated, proactive, and able to communicate at all levels.
• Commitment to continuous professional development.
