Data Protection & Information Governance Lead

Join our team as a Data Protection & Information Governance Lead, responsible for the day-to-day operation and delivery of our information governance and data protection strategies. This role is essential for ensuring compliance with data protection legislation and effectively managing our information governance framework.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Advise on and contribute to the development and implementation of the organisation-wide Information Governance (IG) Work Plan, policies, procedures, systems, and guidelines.
- Ensure the efficient, appropriate, and lawful management, use, sharing, and disposal of information.
- Maintain and evaluate compliance with IG policies and processes through a Record of Processing Activity/Information Asset Register.
- Actively participate in the Information Governance and Security Group (IGSG), providing strategic leadership for IG and Data Protection (DP) throughout the organisation.
- Advocate for IG and DP compliance, liaising with staff at all levels, providing training, and managing responses to IG/DP enquiries.
- Support the implementation of IG/DP policies and assist Information Asset Owners in managing incidents and Data Subject Access Requests.
- Conduct IG/DP audits to ensure compliance with legislation and best practice standards.
- Oversee the management of electronic information and support projects to improve data management and security.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience in a similar role, preferably within in-house, not-for-profit, or health & social care sectors.
- High attention to detail with excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple work streams.
- Self-motivated with the ability to integrate well into the team and adapt to the organisation’s culture.
- Proactive, resilient, and resourceful with effective communication skills at all organisational levels.
