Job Description :

We are currently recruiting for a Dementia Professional to join a large charity organisational based in Coventry City centre.

Hours iof work are 37 hours between 7am - 10pm. Mon - Fri paying between £25,000 - £27,000pa for a maternity leave cover. Due to the nature of work you will need to drive and have your own transport.

Job role:

Provide one to one support to people living with dementia.

  • Work with caseloads.
  • To work collaboratively with their in house OT's to enable people living with dementia to retain or regain a level of independence.
  • Working with other professionals supporting people living with dementia.
  • Understand and use cognitive assessments, goal planning, strengths and strategies to compensate/manage impairment.
  • To develop intervention techniques to enable the person living with dementia to regain and maintain independence in their own home environment.
  • Prevent or reduce hospital admissions through early intervention to avoid crisis.
  • Support the family carer and carer professionals to understand behaviours and implement techniques to manage those behaviours.

Skills And Competencies

  • Ability to develop empathic relationships with customers.
  • Respect for other people's rights of autonomy.
  • Ability to use supervision effectively and self-reflect.
  • Understanding of cognitive impairment and impacts upon the person.
  • Knowledge of strategies, techniques and interventions to understand and manage unwanted behaviours.
  • Ability to apply your knowledge of solution focused interventions.
  • Understand the limits of your role and when to escalate cases for clinical input.
  • Hold a recognised dementia qualification or have at least 2 years' experience in dementia care and willingness to undertake further training.
  • Good understanding of the needs of individuals living with dementia.
  • Capacity to remain motivated even when working under pressure.
  • Good IT skills, proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
