Your new roleDP Accountant-Department for Infrastructure Northern Ireland Civil Service, Water Policy Branch, Shareholder Unit-James House, Belfast.£24.64- £25.64 p/h 37 days a week, 1 day in the office. It is a temporary role until May 2025 but funding after this date will be confirmed.This is a big project which has been shifted over to this team. This is a new post in the team taking over work from a previous team, so a handover will be done. This is not a normal accountancy role, it's a project finance role, working with NI Water and Economists in the central finance team and project governance, so general admin is included in addition to drafting bids. You will be working as part of the Water and Drainage Policy Shareholder Unit and your role will include:

  • To monitor NI Water capital and resource expenditure in line with department budget allocation.
  • To progress departmental approvals of NI Water's capital business cases, ensuring the development of evidence demonstrating value for money, affordability and risk assurance.
  • Engagement with NI Water in relation to programme level reporting and review of regulatory planning documents.
  • Be committed to continuous improvement and to providing both proactive and responsive services which meet the needs of the Department.
  • To assist with reporting to central finance in relation to budget management, control, and explanation.
  • To process all approval requirements, development of submissions and tracking expenditure with justification and evidence for change.
  • To contribute to business plan reporting, and risk management logs for specific areas of responsibility.
  • To assist in providing thorough, clear and concise advice to senior management/Minister and to review draft responses to AQs, COR cases, Committee enquiries, Executive papers and FOI requests and ensure that agreed timescales are met; and financial information for senior management and budget holder
