Job Description :

This is a rewarding role for a Design Manager to work for a leading main contractor on a 5-6 year programme of works in the healthcare sector on refurbishments and new builds through RIBA stages 2-7.

Our client is a well-established main contractor with an international presence. In the last 15 years the organisation has developed a reputation for delivering high-quality projects throughout the UK and has grown impressive teams in a range of sectors. Their healthcare division is delivering one of the most recognisable London hospital schemes as well as having a growing pipeline of forward works, including this 5 year+ programme of works in South East London.

Description

As the Design Manager you will oversee the projects from inception to completion working through stages 2-7 directly with the client organisation Projects range from £5m refurbishment schemes to larger £20m redevelopments and new builds.

You will be required to be on site at least 3 days per week. Hybrid working is on offer.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Managing the design process using commercial, contractual, programme/time awareness and technical expertise
  • Leading all client interaction, specifically focused on clear reporting, design programme management, and change control procedures
  • Ensuring the design process recognises current legislation, standards and codes of practice, where appropriate
  • Ensuring design information is of the right quality and keeps pace with project timescales
  • Striving to eliminate health and safety risks in the design and financial risks during construction

Profile

Applicants for this Design Manager should have:

  • A track record as a Project Running Architect or Design Manager within a main contractor environment
  • Healthcare project experience, ideally including both refurbishment and new build schemes
  • A proven ability to problem solve and generate solutions for clients and build teams alike
  • Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to work effectively with clients within the healthcare sector

Job Offer

  • A competitive salary in the range of £60,000 - £75,000 per annum (depending on experience)
