Development Finance Underwriting Manager - Coast Specialist Recruitment : Job Details

Our client a very well established Specialist lender are seeking a Head of Underwriting with a strong background in Development Finance to join the team in London.

The successful candidate will be responsible, and be able to deputise for, the Lending Director in the operation and management of the Underwriting and Loan Management teams, providing management and oversight for all underwriting and portfolio activities from loan application through to ultimate repayment.

The right individual will need a proven track record in commercial and residential property lending, including demonstrated leadership in managing teams and overseeing lending processes.

An extensive understanding of development lending, with first rate analytical, technical and loan structuring skills is a pre-requisite, ideally with experience of loan recovery management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Use your extensive experience to analyse applications sourced by the Business Development team and work in a collaborative way with them to identify and minimise key risk areas.
• Critically review Credit reports prepared by the Business Development team, make recommendations to Credit Committee and being able to confidently challenge decisions and find alternative solutions if need be.
• Oversee preparation of formal loan documentation and legal completion of loans with the Underwriting Team, using your experience and proactive, problem solving approach to address and deal with any complex matters arising.
• Oversee development loan monitoring and draw downs with the Loan Portfolio team and manage external communication of progress to Investors.
• Oversee loan repayments and, if necessary, extension requests with the Loan Portfolio team, assuming direct responsibility for more complex loans.
