Aatom Recruitment are currently looking for a Disrepair Surveyor to work on behalf of a client of ours based in Coventry and to cover the West Midlands area.

The role will be working and responsible for the assessment of disrepair in council, social housing or private properties, conducting surveys and investigations into housing complaints or claims, and providing written advice and recommendations related to disrepair issues and any additional issues where applicable. Working without supervision, in this role you will be expected to work to high standards of technical, regulatory and relevant rules and regulations, to ensure consistency in practice and outcomes. About you We are looking for someone with significant technical knowledge and surveying/inspection experience. Your experience will also include conducting thorough inspections of properties, identifying issues of disrepair and assessing the severity and urgency of required repairs with cost estimations. You will be investigating disrepair complaints / claims received from tenants. You will be expected to investigate records of all assessments, investigations, documents, or other evidence required, and providing written reports relating to disrepair to be submitted to Court. In addition, you will be collaborating with other professionals, including lawyers and housing officials and landlord’s surveyors, on legal matters relating to disrepair, as well as representing the relevant party in court. The successful post holder will need to have an appropriate surveying or engineering qualification, and equivalent experience. We are looking for someone with appropriate surveying (RICs) qualification, and great experience in residential building surveying in housing disrepair claims as an expert witness. You will be able to communicate effectively with residents, representatives, solicitors and consultants and our elected members. You will be experienced in preparing detailed and comprehensive reports on disrepair issues and presenting findings to relevant stakeholders. You must have high level of knowledge in landlord and Tenant Act 1985, Fitness for Human Habitation, Environmental Protection Act, HHSRS, and other relevant laws and regulations, approved documents, building regulations, and expert witness rules (i.e, CPR.35 and other).
