Our client, a family-owned company located in West Bromwich, West Midlands, specialising in organo-sulphur synthesis and high-pressure hydrogenation, is currently seeking an EC & I Engineer. This is a permanent position within the Controls and Automation sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing the full life-cycle of chemical plant instrumentation projects from conceptualisation to commissioning, including various types of instrumentation and control systems like PLC controllers, safety instrumented systems, and intrinsic safety.
- Overseeing the modification of plant instrumentation systems through a management of change process.
- Creating and modifying instrumentation drawings using AutoCAD or similar software, and maintaining familiarity with all types of instrumentation documents such as loop drawings, I/O lists, P&ID's, and network architecture diagrams.
- Maintaining records on all instrumentation items, including modifications, repairs, and specifications.
- Working within the chemical process or other regulated industries such as Pharmaceutical, Petrochemical, or Food, with a good understanding of DSEAR/ATEX compliance.
- Managing control and safety systems, adhering to functional safety standards IEC61508 & IEC61511, and performing proof tests along HSE guidelines.
- Complying with HSE requirements and maintaining knowledge of Planned Preventive Maintenance and Total Productive Maintenance.
- Ensuring compliance with ISO 9001 standards.
Job Requirements:
- Experience with PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), AutoCAD, Instrumentation, and Controls.
- Recognised Instrument apprenticeship and educated to HNC level as a minimum.
- Several years' experience in managing instrumentation projects.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
