In Scotland, we manage activities relating to key electoral events, including the annual household canvass of electors, Scottish Parliament and local government elections, as well as UK Parliament elections.
Our work involves close collaboration with diverse stakeholders such as the Scottish and UK governments, local authorities, partner organisations, and political parties. By focusing on Scotland’s unique electoral needs, we ensure these stakeholders' perspectives are represented in all our efforts.
Electoral Support Officer – The Role:
As an Electoral Support Officer, you’ll provide essential support across all areas of our work in Scotland. You’ll advise and engage with voters, electoral administrators, political parties, and candidates, helping to deliver the Commission’s stakeholder strategy. Additionally, you’ll provide secretarial and financial planning support to the team.
Electoral Support Officer – Key Responsibilities:
As an Electoral Support Officer, you will play a key role in supporting all areas of the Commission’s work in Scotland. Some of your responsibilities will be to:
- Provide first line advice and guidance to elections staff, political parties, candidates and agents and non-party campaigners in Scotland
- Support the team with maintaining stakeholder relationships between the Scotland office and key partners including schools, youth groups, civil society organisations and local authorities
- Support with the development of education materials and voter engagement resources in line with the learning and partnership strategies
- Utilise different channels to communicate our work to key stakeholders including social media
- Provide secretariat support to meetings with external stakeholders
Electoral Support Officer – You:
We’re looking for someone who brings:
- Experience working in a public or third-sector organisation
- High IT proficiency, including Outlook, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Confidence in engaging with senior stakeholders, both internal and external
- Initiative and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of stakeholders
- A proactive and flexible approach to managing changing priorities
