Electrical Design Engineer

Are you looking for work immediately? Do you have vast experience in school refurbishments?

Randstad are looking for a full time Electrical Design Engineer to work on school refurbishments across North Tyneside. The right candidate must have over 3 years experience and can work independently on projects. The role is to start immediately for 18-24 months.

Pay is negotiable on the candidate.

• Management:
  • Lead small teams, including consultants and trainees.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory duties and contribute to service plans.
  • Promote team performance, development, and high standards of customer service.
• Design and Project Work:
  • Develop conceptual and detailed electrical designs.
  • Prepare engineering documents (e.g., drawings, calculations, reports).
  • Ensure compliance with British Standards, Building Regulations, and energy efficiency goals.
  • Oversee and vet designs from external consultants.
  • Support construction processes, including site visits, installation monitoring, and testing.
• Administration and Coordination:
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Manage quality assurance activities and prepare tender documentation.
  • Lead or assist in projects related to council property investments and energy optimization.
• Technology and Innovation:
  • Utilize design software (AutoCAD, Revit) and maintain expertise in BIM processes.
  • Promote the use of innovative solutions to enhance environmental sustainability.

• Relevant academic/professional qualifications (e.g., BEng/BSc, HND/HNC in Electrical Building Services Engineering).
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
• Familiarity with AutoDesk Revit and MagiCAD.
• Working towards Chartered Engineer status.
• Management qualifications.

• Ability to travel and access construction sites.
• Flexible working arrangements, including occasional evening meetings.
• DBS check required.
