Electrical Supervisor / Foreman
Overview:
Based in Witney, Oxfordshire, our client specializes in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation for heavy industrial projects in the water, utilities and energy sectors.
As an Electrical Supervisor for our client, you will work closely with the Managing Director, Operations Director and Contract Managers. You will be expected to use your knowledge gained from their internal training programme, alongside your existing industry experience to ensure the smooth running of all projects from inception to completion. The responsibilities include overseeing electrical work and site electricians offering guidance as needed, on-site installation, scoping work, ordering materials, issuing permits and ensuring electrical safety rules are followed. Projects are locally and nationally based. This is a permanent position and will be on a full-time basis (40 hrs p/w basic + travel). Projects are based both locally and nationwide, some working away will be required.
The chosen candidate will be required to work autonomously, have a strong sense of initiative and possess strong multi-tasking and organisational skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carrying out and the overseeing of electrical installation work.
- Providing leadership and support to site electricians, ensuring effective supervision of all electrical work.
- Conducting inspections and evaluations of work completed by the electrical team to ensure quality and compliance with standards.
- Reading and interpreting site drawings and schematics to ensure the proper installation of electrical systems.
- Ensure all drawings are red-lined and amended correctly.
- Ordering materials.
- Scoping new work – if required.
- Overseeing any appointed subcontractors and their site crew, checking RAMS statements, on-site Health and Safety, and progress reporting.
- Issuing and receiving of site permits to ensure work is carried out safely.
- Troubleshooting major system failures and equipment malfunctions.
- Maintaining a safe working environment.
Necessary Skills:
- A proven track record in a relevant Electrical Supervisor role.
- A strong background in industrial and commercial electrical installation work.
- City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3.
- 18th Edition Qualified Electrician.
- Test and Inspection 2394/2395 (2391).
- Good understanding of BS7671 and the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989.
- Experience of scoping jobs and ordering materials.
- Ability to read and understand electrical drawings, panel schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Industrial M&E Knowledge.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong team working capabilities and people management skills.
- Analytical and problem-solving mind-set.
- Full clean (preferably) driving license.
- You will be expected to carry out tasks without guidance once trained. You will be required to work autonomously and on your own initiative.
- Previous experience in a similar role, understanding of permit systems.
- Good literacy skills.
- CSCS/ECS card
- SSSTS
Desirable Skills:
- Experience working within the water industry
- SMSTS
- IPAF & PASMA qualified
- EUSR Card
Training:
Full training of the business background, mandatory Health and Safety requirements as well as their products and services will be given, enabling the day-to-day tasks of the job to be more clearly understood.
Hours and days of work, holidays and pay:
They would be looking for the ideal candidate to start as soon as possible.
- 40 hours per week basic + travel (flat rate)

- Holidays 28 days per annum (including bank holidays), increasing annually, to 33 days after 5 years’ full service
- Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 by negotiation, dependent on experience
