Are you an established Employee Relations expert with experience supporting the professional services environment?

Are you looking for a role that will allow you to shape what ER means to a high performing business? Creating frameworks and structures that better support a more cohesive employee experience and redefine processes to help navigate the grey?

I am supporting a very well respected and highly thought of client, based in Nottingham, to source a brand new role into their HR structure. The Employee Relations Consultant will be an addition to a highly commercial, established HR function. Working closely with Senior HR Business Partners and their HR Advisory teams. This role is the first of it's kind in this business and will be incredibly influential in driving change and shaping the future of ER for this client.

There are 3 key deliverables for this role…

  • Training - There are various elements of training required in this assignment. Initially, this business are keen to upskill their HR Advisors and Managers on ER best practice. They are already incredibly competent at working through policy and procedures, but they need additional support in providing pragmatic advice and navigating the 'grey' areas. You will have budget to procure an external training provider to support the delivery of the above. You will also upskill the HR Advisors and Managers directly, through coaching, changing processes and supporting on live cases.
  • Implementing Frameworks/new processes - Whilst the case volume for this business isn't particularly high, they can be incredibly complex. This role will work in partnership with the Risk & Compliance team to design and deliver a new risk management scale for employee relations cases. This framework should better support who is accountable for the delivery of the case, the risk to the business, and the complexity of the issue at hand. Through this process, you will clearly define whether the HR team or Risk & Compliance team will take overall accountability for the matter at hand and how it should be delt with moving forward. You will also develop a process to better log and track ER cases that will allow the business to better identify trends and key people issues that can feed into the wider HR agenda.
  • Complex/high risk Employee Relations operational delivery - you will take the lead on a small volume of complex/high risk ER cases, leading on investigations and working with highly influential and challenging stakeholders across the business. This will allow the HR BPs the time and space to work at a more strategic and commercial level, feeding into the overall commercial success of the business.

The above is just touching the surface as to what change may be possible to influence at this organisation. Whilst the role is a 12 month FTC, there is hope that it may go permanent with the scale of what the business are looking to implement, as ever, this cannot be promised though.

So, what am I looking for?

  • Experience delivering highly complex/high risk cases in a professional services environment
  • Experience working with and influencing highly commercial and sometimes challenging stakeholders
  • Experience designing and delivering new processes that have a particular focus on ER management
  • Experience upskilling and training HR Advisors to deliver more pragmatic advice and navigate the grey areas of ER
  • Experience in identifying trends through ER activity and feeding those findings into the wider people agenda
  • A confident and resilient ER expert, who is technically brilliant
  • Evidence of challenging current ways of working and driving engagement and buy in from HR teams and the wider business on change of processes
