Job Location : Swindon, UK
We're looking for an Energy Category Manager to join our central team, working across the whole National Trust to help deliver our conservation purpose through excellent energy management.
From developing energy strategy and managing our supply chain, to helping optimise energy use across our 400+ historic sites and large countryside estate, this is a unique opportunity to apply your expertise in a fascinating, challenging, and highly rewarding sector.
This is a new fixed term position covering 24 months.
What it's like to work here
We are passionate about what we do; working together to deliver conservation and access to nature, beauty and history. Our sites represent some of the most significant heritage assets spread across England, Wales and Northern Ireland and support a wide range of operations meaning you will face many interesting and often unique energy challenges. We operate through a matrix model with our central directorates and specialisms working flexibly to support our places and each other; expect day to day activities to vary from central strategic meetings to site-based work supporting individual properties.
You'll be in the central operations and consultancy team reporting to the Head of Facilities Management. Your contractual location will be our head office in Swindon and there will be an expectation for you to periodically attend the office. However, there is flexibility on where you are based at other times. You will be required to work at a National Trust location (options are available across our estate) for 40-60% of your working week. This will be discussed in more detail at interview.
What you'll be doing
You’ll take a lead in developing our energy strategy, addressing risks and opportunities, managing national energy supplies, and driving innovative solutions to the many energy challenges we face to meet our climate and sustainability ambitions.
You’ll work with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, particularly our facilities management, environmental, procurement, and operational colleagues, as well as analysing and interpreting wide ranging energy data to advise our senior leaders.
We need someone who can operate at the strategic level but also deal with the fine detail of energy contracts and operational delivery including oversight of our energy monitoring and leading initiatives to optimise energy use.
Who we're looking for
You can view the full role profile for this role in the document attached. You don't need to have all the knowledge, skills and experience listed in the role profile; this is just to provide a full picture of what is possible in this role. For this position we’re looking for someone who has strong understanding of the energy sector as applicable to a large and diverse portfolio of sites/places, and demonstrable experience in being able to apply this knowledge to deliver at strategic, supply chain, and local levels.
We’d love to hear from you if you have:
