A mid-sized Manufacturing Company in Birmingham Moselely area requires:
A Tool Setter / Junior Machine Operator who will be responsible for setting up and maintaining process equipment to ensure the efficient production of high-quality products. The role requires precision, technical expertise, and a strong commitment to safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Tool Setup: Install, set, and adjust process equipment, packaging machines e.g. AV cartoner, tooling on machinery, ensuring correct operation for production runs.
- Machine Calibration: Calibrate machines and tools according to specifications and production requirements.
- Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment, identifying and resolving any issues to minimise downtime.
- Quality Control: Inspect and test initial products to ensure they meet quality standards, making necessary adjustments as required.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and fix mechanical issues with tools and equipment, working closely with other members of the maintenance team to resolve problems quickly.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of machine / tool setups, maintenance activities, and any changes to equipment processes.
- Continuous Improvement: Participate in process improvement initiatives, providing suggestions to enhance efficiency and product quality.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Tool Setter / Machine Operator or in a similar role within a manufacturing environment.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of tooling, machining processes, and machine operation.
- Problem-Solving: Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and fix equipment issues.
- Attention to Detail: High level of precision and attention to detail in all tasks.
- Team Player: Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate clearly with colleagues and supervisors.
- Safety Awareness: Strong understanding of health and safety regulations within a manufacturing setting.
- Education: Relevant qualifications in engineering, machining, or a related field (desirable but not essential).
