What's involved with this role: Interim Environmental Health Officer Job Ref: NW Leicestershire 5260372Pay Rate: Up to £21.28 per hour PAYE depending on experience Key Requirements:
- At least 2 years’ experience of dealing with Environmental Health issues.
- Environmental Health Degree or Diploma.
- Registered with Chartered Institute of Environmental Health.
- Knowledge and awareness of Pollution Control, Private Sector Housing & Housing Standards, Nuisance Investigations and relevant statutory and good practice guidance.
- Knowledge and awareness of Public Health and Housing Standards.
- Experience undertaking both inspections, investigations and enforcement action including prosecutions.
- Experience of detailed knowledge and experience of dealing with complex and contentious investigations.
- Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
- Experience of Environmental Protection, statutory nuisance, planning application consultations, noise nuisance, PPC permit inspections and licensing consultations
- Full UK driving licence with access to own vehicle with business insurance.
The successful candidate will carry out duties in relation to private sector housing & housing standards, pollution control, nuisance, and respond to service requests in relation to air quality and contaminated land. Supervise the team in relation to enviro crime and public protection caseloads. Specialism in pollution and statutory nuisance is essential for this role.Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake inspections, sampling and other visits to assess compliance with relevant legislation.
- Respond to all service requests within the remit of the work of the team.
- Take appropriate enforcement action against those failing to comply with relevant legislation.
- Investigate alleged breaches of legislation
- Provide advice and guidance.
