Estimator & CAD Draughtsperson

• Annual Salary: £35,000 + Good benefits

• Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

My client is a prestigious engineering company with almost 35 years' experience, manufacturing products for national and international infrastructure projects.

Due to continued growth, they now require an Estimator & CAD Draughtsperson for their operation close to Peterborough.

Day-to-day:

• Analyse customer requirements to prepare accurate estimate bids, ensuring timely submission of documents and budgets.
• Collaborate with engineers and designers to understand design requirements and provide technical advice to manufacturing technicians.
• Calculate costs and apply knowledge of materials and engineering principles to check the feasibility of manufacture and construction.
• Liaise with customers, external suppliers, subcontractors, and design teams, to ensure accuracy of information and quotations.
• Estimate fabrication times, working with the production team to ensure appropriate methodologies and efficiencies.
• Create high-quality detailed technical drawings and plans, modify existing drawings, and ensure compliance with industry and health and safety standards.
• Use TurboCAD software to create 2D and 3D models, ensuring value engineering in product design.  Those with AutoCAD and a 3D package (SolidWorks) will also be considered.
• Participate in project meetings to ensure timely and budget-compliant project delivery, addressing any production issues.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

In order to be considered, you’re going to need a few things within your background and experience.

• Relevant steel estimating experience, ideally in major steel infrastructure construction.
• Proficient in creating and understanding engineering drawings/work specifications with a good knowledge of CAD.
• Commercial awareness with a good understanding of industry standards.
• Excellent computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong time management, multitasking, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
• Ability to collaborate closely with all stakeholders, ensuring effective communication to meet production schedules.
• Willingness to travel and perform client/site visits as required.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a strong team player.
