This permanent role is integral to ensuring the seamless and profitable transportation of goods throughout Europe.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing the export/import processes for road freight shipments
- Planning and coordinating transport routes and daily schedules for the European fleet, ensuring cost efficiency and profitability
- Arranging customer collections, packing services, and deliveries
- Collaborating with customers and office staff to plan routes, schedule delivery times, and coordinate drivers and vehicles
- Coordinating with customs for clearance and managing customs entry exceptions
- Overseeing EU airfreight (e.g., DHL) and EU road courier shipments
- Addressing and resolving client/supplier issues and complaints
- Coordinating all aspects of shipping fine art and antiques, including:
- Assessing client needs and liaising with overseas agents, private collectors, galleries, auction houses, artists, and transport companies
- Guiding clients through the shipping process
- Quoting and coordinating both domestic and international shipments
- Arranging customer collections and specialist packing services
- Preparing and processing all necessary documentation
- Handling paperwork, including customs clearance and advising customers on required payments
- Ensuring timely invoice production
- Preparing operational reports and maintaining comprehensive records
- Conducting cost analysis and reporting on jobs and European truck runs
- Communicating with the sales and operations team throughout the day
- Providing administrative assistance to the sales team as needed
- Offering support across the business when required
- Attending regular team meetings
Key Attributes:
- Proven track record and knowledge of domestic and European transport operations and planning
- Good knowledge of current EU transport legislation
- Strong geographical knowledge
- In-depth understanding of current EU customs procedures and paperwork requirements
- Experience dealing with high-end clients and goods
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Discreet and trustworthy with strong interpersonal skills
