Job Description :

An opportunity has arisen which requires the specialist skills and knowledge of somebody (ideally with experience) as a ‘hands on engineer' to work as a Field Support Representative / Engineer for one of MBDA's long range Air-Launched products, permanently within the Middle East (following training)

Salary: Up to £50,000 depending on experience

Dynamic (hybrid) working: Onsite with customer 5 days a week

Location: Initially in Stevenage for training, then the Middle East.

Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship.

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The Opportunity

An opportunity has arisen which requires the specialist skills and knowledge of somebody (ideally with experience) as a ‘hands on engineer' to work as a Field Support Representative / Engineer for one of MBDA's long range Air-Launched products, permanently within the Middle East (following training)

Experience of working within the munitions within the UK Defence domain (ideally RAF) would be an advantage.

After an initial training period in the UK, you will prepare and deploy to the Customer location on a full-time basis until Dec 2026 although extensions to this baseline are expected but not assured.  You will be a permanent employee of MBDA and repatriated to work at a UK location, should an extension not be forthcoming.

?The Role

  • Work as part of the Field Support Team, providing full-time in-country support to our export Customer in the Middle East, within the scope of your Company Approval.
  • After an initial training period in the UK (duration depending on prior experience and requirement), you will deploy to the Customer location on a full-time basis until Dec 26 (extension to contract expected).  
  • Respond to Technical Queries from the Customer in a reasonable and timely manner.
  • Initiate and implement process and technology improvements to deliver Continuous Improvements in MBDA Quality and product availability and make suggestions to the customer.
  • Ensure all necessary tools and equipment are available for use and provide timely replacement and or calibration to secure minimal disruption.
  • Assist other organisations with information and technical support regarding Company Products during any requests for Support during munition shipping / receipt or installation and commissioning activities; at a Customer location.
  • Be sensitive and appropriately responsive to the UK and any Export customer's local culture, behaviour and requirements.

What are we looking for?

  • Practical ‘hands on' engineer willing to work with the Weapon System Designers, the customer, the MoD and Customer partners / stakeholders.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills, as you will need to be able to work with a variety of different cultures and levels of technical skill while maintaining a willing, helpful attitude and a calm professional manner, even when things change at the last minute.
  • Sound knowledge of Military Hierarchies, MoD structures and engineering processes whilst keeping yourself up to date in the relevant technical areas.
  • Deliver, or assist in the delivery of Field Support to the highest quality, on time and on cost including responding to technical queries from the Customer.
  • Be able to mentor others as appropriate and provide ‘On the Job' training.
  • IT Literate, you will be familiar with ‘Office' software applications and be able to write detailed and precise reports for the customer and stakeholders alike.  You will be a confident communicator who is polite and appropriate with all levels up to and including customer senior military ranks.
  • Maintain personal and Technical reports and records of all Field Support activities, to a high standard.
  • You may be required to lead a Contractor's Working Party, at the Customer's location, in the UK and overseas, within the scope of Company Approval.
  • Having experience and a working knowledge of the Defence environment and (ideally but not essential as training will be provided) experience of working with Air Launched munitions at second / third line.
