About the Role:

Opus People Solutions, on behalf of West Midlands Employers, is seeking dedicated Finance Assistant to join our finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for professionals aiming for personal growth and career progression within the public sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Record Management: Manage sales and purchase ledgers, cash and banking operations, VAT returns, and financial reporting to external bodies, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • SAGE System Preparation: Prepare and enter data into the SAGE system.
  • Cashbook Administration: Support cashbook services, including bank reconciliation, online credit card payments, and documentation for BACS payments.
  • Credit Control: Administer the credit control system, ensuring prompt debtor payments and initiating bad debt recovery processes in line with agreed protocols.

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

  • AAT Qualification or Equivalent: Candidates should hold an AAT qualification or possess equivalent experience in a similar financial role.
  • Proficiency in SAGE 50: Strong working knowledge of SAGE 50 is required.
  • Excel Expertise: Ability to manipulate, log, and track data using Excel.
  • Financial Management Experience: A minimum of 12 months of recent experience with a comprehensive financial management system, including sales, purchase, and cash ledgers (SAGE or equivalent).
  • Online Business Systems: Experience with online business systems for data recording and reporting, such as SAGE accounting, CRM systems, online payment, and banking systems.
  • Credit Control Experience: Practical experience in operating or working with a credit control system.
  • Financial Reporting: Experience in preparing financial reports, including VAT returns, sales forecasts, credit control reports, and budget reporting.
