Finance Assistant

What we do:
We provide card processing services supporting business to take payments face to face at point of sale, online, over the phone and in vending. This includes supply and support of point-of-sale credit and debit card processing machines to small businesses, retailers, charities, and vending machine operators. We have achieved significant growth in the charity and vending machine sectors in the past 24 months because of the rapid growth in the use of contactless transactions replacing cash, and this is set to continue.
Job Description:
As a finance assistant, you will work in a small team of 3, managing the day-to-day financial operations of our portfolio of companies to provide them with a high-quality financial service. The role reports to the Finance Officer.
Responsibilities:
- Taking care of administrative tasks, such as correspondence, filing and printing
- Maintaining accurate and detailed customer records and creating new customer accounts
- Bookkeeping, entering all financial transactions on to the ledgers with accuracy and timeliness
- Completing daily and monthly bank reconciliations
- Collecting direct debits and matching payments
- Supporting the preparation of management accounts and month-end duties
- Processing of purchase invoices, supplier payments and remittances, and liaising with suppliers
- Processing of sales invoices, customer receipts, direct debits and liaising with customers for overdue collections
- Assisting with preparing and posting month end journals such as prepayments, accruals and depreciation calculations
- Assist the preparation of monthly management reports
- Building a good rapport with other functions and providing teams with relevant information
Ideal candidate:
- Relevant degree with a 2:1 or higher or
- Relevant experience in a similar role and/or currently studying a recognised accountancy qualification
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the company and externally
- High numerical and analytical skills with the ability to deal with large volumes of data
- Proficient in excel (Familiarity with cloud-based accounting systems such as Sage & Xero would be preferred but not essential as training will be provided)
- Desire to learn new skills and take on responsibility when required
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail

Permanent Salary: £27-£35k subject to qualification/experience
