Finance Business Partner

Salary: £34,500 – £44,850 per annum

Location: Cambridge, Gateshead, Coventry/ Hybrid (minimum two days per week in the office)

Contract: Permanent, 35 hours per week

Our Education Finance Team are hiring for a Finance Business Partner role to work closely with our UK Education business managers supporting the divisions that deliver our exams series.

About the role

You will join the UK Education Finance Business Partners Team, who provides information, analysis and advice to support decision making at Group, Business Unit and budget holder level. You also will be pivotal to providing analysis and input to the production of budget and forecasts, contributing to the Group planning process.

Providing a finance business partnering service to UK Education business area, you will support and advise to a wide range of colleagues, with the accountability for the delivery of insightful, accurate and timely outputs, helping to deliver strong financial performance.

With excellent relationship management skills, you will establish effective working relationships with business colleagues to ensure proper budget management and adherence to financial cycle requirements. In addition to creating accurate budgets and forecasts that reflect the business area's plans, you will influence business decisions by providing insightful financial analysis. 

About you

You will already hold or be working towards completion of a professional accounting qualification (CIMA, ACCA or equivalent), or have demonstrable experience providing a business partnering service, and have the skills and ability to provide insight into business performance.

Possessing excellent verbal and written communication skills, you will have advanced proficiency in Excel, enabling you to manipulate financial data and produce accessible outputs for a variety of stakeholder groups. Good time management skills are essential, as is the ability to appropriately apply relevant accounting standards.

To be successful in this role, you will require a high level of numeric reasoning and an aptitude for problem solving and decision making, while understanding when to refer queries to a higher level.

Experience:

  • Demonstrate experience of supporting and challenging operational teams Finance Business Partnering including preparation of monthly reports as well as costing/pricing work.
  • Experience of management accounts or Finance Business partnering in a global organisation is desirable.
  • Project work, including understanding of contract terms, beneficial.
  • Successfully producing detailed and accurate work to deadlines.
  • Good working knowledge of finance procedures and experience of using a major finance systems.
