Reed Accountancy & Finance are seeking a Finance Manager for a temporary position within a construction company based in Ashford. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance management, preferably within the construction industry, and will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations and ensuring the company’s financial health and compliance.
Finance Manager Day-to-day of the role:
- Oversee the financial strategic planning of the company by evaluating its performance and potential risks.
- Prepare detailed reports on the company’s financial performance, including monthly, quarterly, and annual accounts.
- Ensure that all subcontractors are verified with HMRC before making any payments. This includes checking their CIS status and obtaining their Unique Taxpayer Reference (UTR) number.
- Calculate and deduct the appropriate amount of CIS tax from payments made to subcontractors.
- Manage and monitor all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate standards and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain internal control safeguards for the receipt of revenue, costs, and both team and organisational budgets and actual expenditures.
- Implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all programs, upholding federal, state, and local legal standards by remaining knowledgeable about existing, new, and future legislation.
- Develop and enforce internal controls to maximise protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflow.
- Oversee and support accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity.
Finance Manager Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Finance Manager, particularly within the construction sector or related fields.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial management.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills.
- Sharp time management skills.
- Strong ethics, with an ability to manage confidential data.
- Professional qualification as a CFA/CPA or similar will be considered a plus.
