Our client is a dynamic SME specialising in bespoke educational furniture, is looking for a skilled Finance Manager to join their expanding team. As the company are on a rapid growth trajectory currently turning over almost £8m looking to double in the next few years, the Finance Manager will play an essential role in that journey.
The Role:Reporting directly to senior management, the Finance Manager will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day financial processes and helping the business scale effectively as it grows. You will have full ownership of the finance function and will be a key player in ensuring financial operations run smoothly and efficiently. This is very much a hands on role in the day to day activities whilst building a successful and functional finance department.Key Responsibilities:
- Sage 50 expertise: Manage the end-to-end financial operations within Sage 50, including the purchase ledger, sales ledger, payments, and invoicing.
- Subcontractor/CIS invoice processing: Ensure compliance with CIS regulations, working with Cox and Co for invoice verification.
- Bank reconciliations: Oversee reconciliations for multiple accounts, including current, savings, and credit cards.
- VAT returns: Manage VAT audits and submissions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with HMRC.
- Payment management: Responsible for mid-month and end-of-month purchase ledger payments, BACS payments, and credit card payment processes.
- Financial reporting: Produce monthly management accounts, weekly project costing reports, and cash flow forecasts.
- Credit control: Manage credit control, including debt chasing, credit checks, and retention processing.
- HMRC compliance: Prepare and post CIS and PAYE journal entries within Sage, managing monthly payments to HMRC.
- Application processing: Manage timely and accurate applications for payment within Sage to support monthly accounts.
Requirements
- Experience: Demonstrable experience in a Finance Manager or similar role, ideally within an SME environment. Knowledge of subcontractor/CIS invoicing is desirable
- Sage 50 proficiency: You will be highly proficient in Sage 50 and capable of managing a broad range of financial tasks using the software.
- Detail-oriented: You’ll have strong attention to detail, particularly when it comes to reconciling statements and processing payments.
- Adaptable: Able to manage growing demands within the finance department, with the business committed to bringing in additional support as the company scales.
- Strong communicator: Capable of working effectively with internal departments and external stakeholders, ensuring seamless financial operations.
