Job Description :

We are seeking a dedicated Finance Officer to join a school Term time only . The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the school’s financial administration, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and overseeing the Finance Office’s functions and resources. 

TERM TIME ONLY 

Day to Day of the role:
  • Maintain school accounts using FMS and manage the unofficial school fund with Quick Books.
  • Ensure all income due to the school is received and liaise with the Local Authority for financial management.
  • Conduct financial transactions in accordance with DfES, LA, and school financial regulations.
  • Facilitate audit procedures, including arranging annual audits and implementing recommendations.
  • Manage VAT accounting, payment, and monthly reclaim returns.
  • Administer records of expenditure for each cost centre, reporting any budget discrepancies.
  • Handle petty cash administration and reimburse staff for expenditures.
  • Oversee the collection, recording, and banking of school monies, and issue receipts for various transactions.
  • Coordinate with the Premises team for out-of-hours school usage and collection of lettings fees.
  • Ensure minibuses are legally compliant, liaising with the Site Manager for maintenance and documentation.
  • Process purchase orders and invoices, ensuring timely payments to suppliers.
  • Oversee bank accounts, including monthly reconciliations and handling banking errors.
  • Assist in the preparation of end-of-year accounts and manage the ParentPay system.
  • Maintain school insurances, process claims, and manage inventories.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in financial administration, preferably within an educational setting.
  • Familiarity with financial management systems (FMS) and Quick Books.
  • Knowledge of DfES, LA, and school financial regulations.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using financial software and Microsoft Office Suite.
