My client is currently looking for a Finance Officer to join their growing and well-established company based in Middlesbrough. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a dynamic team, where you will play a key role in supporting the finance function.
As a Finance Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring smooth financial operations, processing invoices, reconciling accounts, and supporting key financial tasks such as month-end reporting and HMRC returns. You will also provide administrative support to the team, ensuring efficiency and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Answering phone calls and responding to emails
- Processing sales and purchase invoices in Xero
- Reconciling bank transactions and credit card charges
- Managing accounts receivable and ensuring timely collections
- Supporting month-end P&L completion
- Processing Direct Debits
- Assisting in budget coordination, financial forecasting, and variance reporting
- Supporting the submission of HMRC returns
- Assisting with payroll processing
- Providing general administrative support and covering policy/compliance tasks during leave periods
Requirements:
- Basic finance qualifications (desired but not essential)
- Experience with Xero (desirable but not essential)
- Confident customer-facing skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritise tasks
- Excellent communication skills and a professional attitude
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Efficient time management and the ability to work under pressure
- A proactive approach with a desire to show initiative
Role details:
- Location: Middlesbrough (Office-based with free parking)
- Hours: Monday-Friday, full-time
- Salary: £24,000 - £24,500 (Based on experience)
