We are currently recruiting for an experienced Financial Accountant for a well-established forward-thinking client. You will manage and control all aspects of the organisations financial management to ensure that best accounting practice are followed and that data integrity is consistently and securely maintained.

This will be a fixed term contract until the end of April 2025 (this me be extended or turn into a permanent role).       

32 hours a week over 4 days - office basedMain Duties:

  • Assist with the management of our bank accounts and maintain bank security protocols across all accounts (online Bankline and Autopay – BACS): instructing the bank, checking and obtaining correct authorisations, raising cheques for authorised bank signatories
  • Assist with the monitoring of cash flow and transfer funds to meet requirements for outgoing funds
  • Assist with processes for budgeting, forecasting, and reporting; anticipate and highlight upcoming issues
  • Reconcile investment portfolio quarterly
  • Work to ensure control of internal financial processes, ensuring required documentation and authorisations are in place
  • Ensure the correct allocation of funding streams and compliance with donor requirements
  • Ensure accurate accounting for incoming payments, managing the calendar, checking received payments and progress chasing overdue payments
  • Assist in management reporting of the risk register relating to Finance
  • Review income to ensure it is categorised correctly in the accounts
  • Support the Management Accountant, working together to produce accurate and timely monthly management accounts
  • Support the efficient completion of daily transactional work and monthly reconciliations by the Finance team 
  • Support the completion of financial reports, lead the month-end closing process and prepare the draft annual accounts
  • Support the management of budgeting and reforecasting processes and carry out the monthly financial forecast
  • Analyse and report on metrics and performance measures for trustees in line with the organisation’s objectives, e.g. revenue, grants, projects, cost control.
  • Prepare VAT returns

The ideal candidate will be part of fully AAT qualified or part ACCA/CIMA qualified or qualified by experience. Have a high level of computer and numerical literacy, including packages such as Excel and Word. Have a strong knowledge of management reporting and standard accounting processes and have strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and communicate complex information clearly.
