Financial Accountant

An esteemed charity is in search of a Financial Accountant for a six-month fixed-term contract. This pivotal role ensures the integrity and efficiency of financial processes in preparation for the financial year-end.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Oversee restricted and designated funds, preparing monthly reports and year-end schedules.
- Review and utilise restricted funds to maximise their impact against unrestricted expenditure.
- Lead the reorganisation of investment funds to streamline month-end processes.
- Manage fixed asset journals and reconciliations with a high degree of accuracy.
- Prepare VAT Return workings and conduct associated reconciliations.
- Execute the monthly close process, including transaction analysis and journal preparations.
- Proactively challenge and refine processes to meet audit standards and enhance financial efficiency.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Degree in accountancy, finance, or a related field, or a professional qualification in these areas.
- Experience with VAT return preparation and compliance.
- Proficient in interpreting financial transactions and entries.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive stance on balance sheet reconciliation.
- Commitment to accuracy and thoroughness in financial records and reporting.
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, sumif/sumifs, and vlookups.
- In-depth knowledge of financial regulations and compliance requirements.
