Job Description :

We are seeking a skilled Financial Accountant to join our team. This role involves comprehensive financial reporting, accounting tasks, and general financial management. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, preferably within a law firm or professional services environment, and will be instrumental in driving financial accuracy and process improvements.

Day-to-day of the role:

Reporting:

  • Prepare and analyse financial data, ensuring accurate financial reports are delivered to senior management.
  • Manage monthly Management Accounts and conduct departmental reviews.
  • Provide P&L forecasts and updates.
  • Prepare statutory financial statements and manage audit adjustments.
  • Develop annual Income and Costs budgets.
  • Conduct cash forecasts and quarterly Financial Covenants tests for the bank.
  • Assist with SRA and Statutory LLP audits.

Accounting Tasks:

  • Calculate and process quarterly commission payments.
  • Prepare schedules for Equity and Fixed Share Partner drawings.
  • Review monthly Balance Sheet and bank reconciliations.
  • Update monthly Fee Earner and Support staff headcount listings.
  • Manage Partner’s Capital requirements, including liaising with the bank and handling applications for new or increased capital.
  • Value WIP & Debts and support the COFA role.

General Tasks:

  • Lead ad hoc projects to enhance processes and efficiencies within the accounting function.
  • Provide ad hoc reports and financial information as required.
  • Address queries from Partners and Associates.
  • Liaise with auditors and the bank on various matters.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Accounting qualification – ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience as an accountant, ideally within a law firm or professional services firm.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Principles and Accounts Rules of the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
  • Profound understanding of accounting principles, financial analysis, and reporting standards.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel. SQL knowledge is highly advantageous.

Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across all levels.
