We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Financial Accountant to join a high-performing, Private Equity (PE) backed business based in Coventry. As a Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting activities, preparing accurate financial statements, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations and accounting standards. This is a hands-on role that offers excellent exposure to the financial operations of a PE-backed business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with accounting standards (UK GAAP/IFRS).
- Manage the month-end close process, ensuring all accounting entries are recorded accurately and within deadlines.
- Oversee balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Assist with the preparation of the company’s annual financial statements, liaising with auditors during the year-end audit process.
- Ensure proper accounting of fixed assets, tax, and intercompany transactions.
- Support the preparation and filing of VAT returns and ensure compliance with relevant tax regulations.
- Contribute to cash flow forecasting and financial reporting for senior leadership and investors.
- Maintain strong internal controls to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with relevant policies.
- Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and support to internal stakeholders as required.
- Identify areas for process improvements in financial reporting and accounting processes.
Key Requirements:
- ACA, ACCA, or equivalent qualified accountant (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience in financial accounting, ideally within a Private Equity backed or fast-paced environment.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, including experience with UK GAAP/IFRS.
- Strong Excel skills and familiarity with accounting software and systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced business.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present financial information to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
- Experience in preparing financial statements and liaising with auditors.
- Exposure to tax, VAT, or treasury processes would be beneficial.
