Reed Finance are supporting our client, a fast-growing SME business, with the recruitment of a Finance Manager to lead their finance function. This key position involves providing leadership and financial expertise, modernising accounting practices, and participating in strategic decision-making. The role is ideal for someone with senior accounts management experience who is proactive, deadline-focused, and has a sharp eye for detail.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Provide leadership for the finance function and offer financial expertise for strategic decision-making.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of accounting records, compliance with accounting standards, and consistency with company policies.
  • Modernise accounting practices incorporating new technologies and automation.
  • Liaise with third-party accountants to ensure compliance with statutory and HMRC reporting requirements.
  • Manage cash forecasting and oversee the sales and purchase ledgers.
  • Oversee credit control, actively managing priority debtors and credit checking.
  • Manage bank, petty cash, and credit card reconciliations, as well as the payroll function.
  • Assist with the production of financial statements and corporation tax returns.
  • Maintain accounting records for a property management company and manage the order processing function through to dispatch.
  • Liaise with the company’s HR and Legal third-party support as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or qualified by experience
  • Organised, proactive, and deadline-focused approach.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and influence.
  • Strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Experience in creating profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flows.
  • Good numeracy, literacy, and general IT skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Experience with Sage accounting software or similar.
  • Track record of making sound commercial decisions.
