The Role:
As a Financial Controller, you will be a key member of the finance team, responsible for overseeing the financial operations and play a pivotal role in managing the month-end reporting process, ensuring accurate financial analysis, and maintaining financial controls. Working closely with the Finance Director, you will provide valuable insights to support strategic decision-making while also managing day-to-day financial affairs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the preparation of monthly management accounts for review by the Finance Director and Managing Partner, including all associated analysis and commentary for a number of limited companies.
- Overview of day-to-day affairs including payroll and expenses management, VAT returns, bank reconciliations, oversight of sales and purchase ledger functions, ledger postings and being able to assist in the event of staff absence.
- Liaise with stakeholders, both internal (gathering information from department heads ahead of month end reporting) and external (review of monthly reporting with parent company).
- Liaise with the auditors and facilitating the smooth running of the audit process.
- Production and maintenance of short-term cash flow forecasts.
- Key involvement in annual budgeting process.
- Support accounts assistants in their development and with day-to-day activities.
Skills and Experience:
- Demonstratable accounting expertise with proven experience in managing and developing a finance team.
- A formal finance qualification is advantageous but applicants who are qualified by experience are welcome.
- Hands-on approach to supporting ledger postings, ensuring seamless operations during staff absences and meeting critical reporting deadlines.
