Client Details

Working for a national charity this role is responsible for all financial statutory reporting across the organisation. Key responsibilities include overseeing the financial audit process, maintaining internal financial controls, and providing financial insights to support the organisation's strategic objectives for operational excellence and growth.

Description

Duties and tasks of the Financial Controller:

  • Lead the preparation of statutory financial reports, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee internal controls and manage external audits, ensuring timely implementation of audit recommendations.
  • Deliver monthly balance sheet and cash flow analysis to ensure financial integrity and compliance.
  • Develop and execute financial integration plans for new entities, ensuring alignment with financial policies and systems.
  • Maintain and enhance financial control frameworks to safeguard assets and mitigate risks.
  • Streamline financial reporting processes for efficiency, accuracy, and value for money.
  • Lead and mentor the finance team, ensuring high performance, retention, and professional development.
  • Provide financial insights and technical expertise to senior leadership, operational teams, and external stakeholders.
  • Oversee tax compliance, including VAT and Gift Aid reporting, ensuring adherence to all financial regulations.
  • Support executive decision-making by interpreting complex financial data and presenting it in a clear, concise manner.

Profile

Skills required for the Financial Controller:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with significant experience in financial management, audit, or compliance.
  • Expertise in financial reporting, consolidation, and regulatory compliance, preferably within a group structure or the charitable sector.
  • Experience in M&A finance, including integrating new entities and managing reporting structures.
  • Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate financial data effectively.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial systems, with a strategic and analytical mindset.
