FINANCIAL CONTROLLER
Welwyn Garden City, Herts £65,000 - 75,000 per annum
4 days a week in the office, Friday from home.
My client is seeking a skilled and experienced Finance Manager/Controller to join their dynamic team in this ambitious, fast-growing family-run products-based business.
As the Finance Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial activities, including the annual audit, ensuring the accurate recording and reporting of financial data, and providing financial input to support the company's growth, profitability and cash generation goals. This is a senior-level position that requires strong company-wide leadership, analytical skills, high initiative and a deep understanding of finance operations within a products-based business.
Key duties will include:
• Preparation of the management accounts for the Board• Manage all day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable and receivable, cash, VAT and general ledger, ensuring continual accuracy of all balance sheet accounts• Manage the annual audit of the main subsidiary and parent company.• Implement and continually improve company-wide processes, policies and controls• Implement and manage periodic cash flow forecasts at Group and subsidiary level, and advise Directors with actionable insights to ensure optimal cash management• Implement and manage monthly stock reconciliations, investigate discrepancies and recommend new stock controls where appropriate • Streamline financial processes to enable a fast-close month-end • Manage the administration of financing arrangements• Monitor and analyse costs across the business, implement effective cost control measures and provide recommendations to streamline company processes.• Assist the CFO with development of financial budgets and rolling forecasts and production of accurate and timely financial reports to the management team, highlighting KPIs and variances and evaluating financial performance for better decision making• Supervise the Finance Assistant, providing guidance and performance evaluations.• Provide financial insights and recommendations to support business decisions, investments and new product development.• Prepare and present ad hoc commercial and financial analysis for the Directors and CFO
Requirements:• Fully qualified (ACA, CIMA, ACCA) with 3+years PQE• Ideally some experience within a products-based business• Proficient in using financial software and advanced Excel skills; familiarity with Sage platforms is advantageous• Able to get work done quickly and efficiently whilst remaining detail and control-oriented, with a high level of accuracy and integrity in financial reporting • Highly driven with a desire to be an integral and valued senior manager within our ambitious fast growth family run business• Self-starter with a high level of initiative that can be clearly demonstrated in previous role(s)• Excellent analytical and numerical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights• Strong leadership and communication skills and the ability to influence the wider non-finance team and senior management• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, coupled with a strategic mindset
