Mackie Myers is excited to be exclusively supporting a high growth biotech organisation that is at an exciting phase in their life cycle. Due to the growth plans of the business and a range of pending projects, they are looking to hire a Financial Reporting & Controls Senior Manager.  The RoleThe purpose of the role is to manage all external US reporting alongside implementing and maintaining robust internal controls in accordance with SOX and to be the technical lead for accounting queries. The role will require continuous improvement regarding processes, technology and finance systems.  Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain US GAAP, IFRS, and UK GAAP accounting policies; participate in SEC financial reporting.
  • Handle statutory reporting under IFRS and liaise with external tax advisors for US and UK tax computations and returns.
  • Advise on significant transactions, author accounting papers, and agree treatments with auditors.
  • Collaborate on technical accounting and SEC reporting matters; prepare and review financial statements and disclosures.
  • Review, assess, and implement new accounting standards and SEC rule updates; maintain effective internal controls.
  • Support external auditors, enhance internal controls compliance under SOX, and improve financial operations efficiency.
  The successful candidate
  • Qualified accountant (ACA,CPA, ACCA) with a finance-related degree or equivalent experience.
  • Over 5 years of SEC accounting or advisory experience, preferably in a large public accounting firm or US organisation.
  • Experience in preparing/auditing financial statements for Forms 10-Q and 10-K, and designing/testing internal controls under SOX.
  • Strong technical accounting background with knowledge of US GAAP, SEC reporting standards, and IFRS.
  • Ability to communicate complex accounting issues clearly to finance and non-finance personnel.
  What is on offer?On offer for the successful candidate is a base salary of between £100,000-£115,000 alongside benefits such as a bonus, shares, private medical, pension and hybrid working. Also on offer is the opportunity to work for an exciting, scaling biotech business that have ambitions to grow significantly within the next 12 months.
