Job Title: Fire Project Manager & EstimatorLocation: Stevenage, HertfordshireSalary: £42,000 - £65,000 per annum (dependent on experience)Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30 - 17:30 (1-hour unpaid lunch break)About:Parkside Recruitment are currently seeking an experienced and dynamic Fire Project Manager & Estimator.This role is crucial for managing fire department projects from inception to completion, ensuring that all work is delivered on time and to the highest standards.Key ResponsibilitiesProject Management
- Manage Installation Engineers: Oversee the daily activities and schedules of Installation Engineers, ensuring smooth and timely project execution.
- Project Handover: Collaborate with the Surveyor during project handovers, schedule work, and agree on installation dates with customers.
- Progress Monitoring: Track the progress of installation work, ensuring alignment with building or construction schedules, including direct on-site supervision if needed.
- Contract Management:
- Assess the suitability of proposed equipment, sourcing alternatives if necessary.
- Liaise with the Surveyor regarding any significant variations in project requirements or materials.
- Maintain regular communication with customers to ensure efficient contract progression.
- Material Management:
- Ensure correct ordering of materials following company procedures.
- Propose and manage stockholding for in-house and van inventories.
Estimating and Quoting
- Prepare Tenders and Quotations: Design and interpret specifications for fire and other systems, including PA/VA systems, emergency lighting, and more.
- Site Surveys: Conduct site surveys to gather information for accurate estimates and quotations.
- Variation Pricing: Provide quotations for project additions and variations as required.
- Documentation: Manage the documentation process for invoicing and customer correspondence.
Technical Support
- Technical Assistance: Provide technical support to the Sales Team and the department, especially for larger projects involving the integration of various systems.
- Customer Interaction: Handle customer complaints, prepare letters, and provide presentations at our premises or the customer's location.
- Inspection Oversight: Oversee visits from external inspectors and auditors to ensure compliance.
Team Management
- Engineer Support: Address day-to-day needs of Installation Engineers, manage their holidays and absenteeism, and ensure timely submission of timesheets.
- Emergency Call-Out Roster: Participate in the Duty Engineer Roster, providing escalation support for emergency call-outs as needed.
Requirements
- Experience: Extensive experience in project management and estimating within the fire and security industry.
- Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with bespoke databases and office machinery.

- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities with a practical and logical approach.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met.
- Capable of estimating effectively, considering all project aspects such as timescales, overheads, and costs.
