Are you experienced in leading a FixedAssetaccountingteam?

We have a fantastic opportunity to join Sovereign Network Group in this new role as FixedAsset and Capital Accounting Manager. You'lllead the fixedassetteamresponsible for SNG'sfixedasset register for housing, investment and other fixed assets (c.£7bn), providing associatedaccounting and regulatoryinformation. Based fromour head office in Basingstoke, you'll combine office and home working to ensure a positive work/life balance. There may be some travel as required to our offices in Wembley.

What you'll be doing

Reporting into our Group FinancialController, you'll manage a team of 4 direct reports. Alongside ensuring the smooth operation of the fixedasset register, you'lllead the ongoing development and execution of SNG'scapitalisation policy, ensuring strict adherence to the latest accounting standards (FRS102, SORP) and industry best practice. Responsibilities include:

  • Managing the teamresponsible for all administrative and accountingactivities relating to SNG'sfixedasset register and balance sheet disclosure, including inputting to the annual financial statements and other submissions for ONS and the housing regulator
  • Managing the annual external audit process for fixed assets working with the Head of FinancialAccounting to ensure timely audit sign-off
  • Proactively liaisingwith senior stakeholdersincludingexecutive board and senior Directors across SNG and their Finance leads to offer technical capital accounting advice and influence
  • Developing and refining comprehensivecapitalisation policies for SNG, ensuring ongoing adherence to latest accounting standards (FRS 102/SORP) and other regulatoryrequirements
  • Working with the FinancialControl manager to develop and maintain a robust financialcontrol framework for fixed assets across all SNG's legal entities, ensuring financialintegrity for SNG's balance sheet
  • Producing annual, quarterly, monthly fixedasset summaries for statutory, regulatory and other external reporting needs for each of SNG's legal entities
  • Leading the FixedAssetteamwith a focus on articulating a clear vision, providing direction, and fostering a culture of accountability, high performance, and continuousimprovement

What we need from you

You'll be a Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) withdemonstrable experience in a similar senior accounting role within fixed assets or capital accounting. You'llhave experience from within the Housing or Property sectors, or from within a large commercial organisationwith a comprehensivefixedasset register.

To be successful in this role you'll need to demonstrate a blend of astute leadership, and comprehensive technical accountingproficiency, togetherwith the ability to articulate complex financial concepts clearly withstakeholders across all levels of the organisation. You'llhave:

  • Extensive knowledge of relevant legislation e.g. FRS102, Housing SORP and wider financialaccounting standards (IFRS)
  • Strong, clear working knowledge of processes and controls surrounding fixedassetaccounting, financial statements, including detailed report writing and analysis
  • Familiaritywith enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems such as Agresso/Unit 4, Sun, or similar accounting/ERP systems
  • Experience in leading and participating in large-scale finance transformation projects, including system implementations, process improvements, and data migration initiatives
  • Demonstrable experience in developing and leading a team of qualified and part-qualified accountants in a dynamic and evolving environment
  • Strong stakeholdermanagement skills, with clear communication skills
