We are currently recruiting for a Fleet Engineering Support Manager to join the Fleet Engineering on a full-time, permanent basis, reporting into the Head of Feet.

As the Fleet Engineering Support Manager, it is your responsibility to link the Fleet Strategy to the business, ensuring key stakeholders and customers get a high-quality service and Identify cost and efficiency improvements for both new and existing fleet.

You will also support the delivery of new build programs in line with business requirements, including fleet mix & implementation aligned to the growth and transformation of our depot network. You will also support the Operations teams with robust cost management systems and processes.

We are offering a remote base contract with occasional travel across the UK to depots where travel expenses will be reimbursed. Flexibility will be required for ad hoc team and supplier meetings.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

  • Have a strong focus on cost management across the whole vehicle operational scope (inc, fleet mix, use, repair, and maintenance).
  • Ensure vehicle maintenance regimes are in place to satisfy legal obligations, manufacturers requirements and provide a reliable and safe operating fleet
  • Manage supplier relationships to ensure high standards are achieved and SLA’s are met.
  • Manage our group fleet VOR for both planned and unplanned to meet Business KPI structure
  • Manage fleet movements in line with major changes across the business.
  • Attend Senior Management review meetings to ensure cost savings are identified, best practice and continual improvements are being achieved across the business units in UK / Ireland.
  • Focus on vehicle availability by working with site management & fleet engineering teams, and our network of service providers
  • Support and deliver new build delivery program for LGVs.
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure co-operation, compliance, cost control and efficiency is achieved.
  • Establish relationships with key enforcing bodies (Traffic Commissioners Office, EHO, HSE,). 
  • Communicate in the appropriate format with accurate & succinct information for the varied audience range (examples include Board Reports, MPRs, ECF meetings.

About you:

This role will suit someone who strives for continuous improvement with an extensive background within Fleet Management and Operations in a high volume, fast paced environment. Ideally you will hold a Certificate of Competence in Road Transport Operations and a Mechanical Engineering qualification and have a NEBOSH/Health & Safety qualification. Microsoft skills are essential in this role; PowerPoint, Project, Word and Excel, so candidates need to be proficient in the use of these as well as having strong communication and negotiation skills to ensure the business gets the best deal from all suppliers. You must be able to multi-task and have good prioritization skills to meet set deadlines. You will be a team player with a passion for compliance, efficiency and budgeting/ cost saving and be open minded and able to positively influence change. You will also be able to digest complex data on performance, (insurance & claims reports, telematics, and precedential case law) and translate this into practical advice, communications, and action plans.
