Optimum Recruitment Group are proud to be working with a well established and successful business based in central York, who are looking to appoint a Flights & Rail Manager to the team.
Reporting into the Head of Operational Delivery, you will oversee the daily operations of our clients Flights & Rail Team. This role involves managing a team of professionals responsible for arranging flights and rail travel, ensuring exceptional service delivery, and maintaining compliance with company travel policies.
Your duties will be to:
- Lead and motivate a team of Flights & Rail Executives, fostering high performance, professional development, and team engagement.
- Build and improve capability and motivation within the team through one to ones, coaching, feedback, development and empowerment.
- Oversee daily Flights & Rail operations, including workflows, technology solutions, and maintaining positive team morale.
- Supervise the booking and management of flights and rail tickets to ensure smooth operational processes and a hassle-free customer journey.
- Proactively handle travel disruptions, ensuring all customers reach their destinations while maintaining an excellent customer experience.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to align with brand standards and operational needs.
- Liaising with other teams in the business to ensure a seamless tour experience for the internal and external customers.
- Participate in the out of hours team, providing essential support during non-standard working hours.
The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a keen eye for detail with demonstrable experience from travel, transport or logistics management.

- Proven experience of working in a high volume and fast paced customer focused environment with a strong emphasis on customer service.
- The ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines whilst exhibiting excellent attention to detail.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks, complex schedules and prioritise effectively to ensure a smooth operation.
- Strong leadership & team management skills.
- Problem solving and decision making skills - able to make quick and effective decisions whilst dealing with real time travel disruption.
- Solid experience in a Transport or Logistics Management role.
- Passion about delivering a great customer experience.
- Experience of liaising with suppliers.
- High levels of resilience and tenacious.
Salary £35,000 plus benefits
