Salary: £32,000 - £40,000 (DOE)

Calor is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Fuel Manager to join our Fleet Support Team, ensuring the smooth and efficient management of fuel deliveries and usage across our fleet. If you have strong analytical skills, experience with fuel management and fleet support systems, and a passion for process improvement, this role offers an exciting opportunity to make a real impact.

Role Overview:As the Fuel Manager, you’ll play a key role in overseeing the delivery and usage of vehicle road fuel, managing bunkered storage, and ensuring external fuel drawings are correctly administered. Working as part of the Fleet Support Team, you will also utilise a variety of fleet support systems beyond just our fuel management system to help manage and optimise fuel consumption and overall fleet performance.

This hybrid role includes occasional travel to our sites, where you’ll meet with teams, perform audits, and use your expertise to drive efficiency. You’ll have the flexibility to hire a car for these visits and stay overnight when needed to be fully prepared for the day ahead.

We’re looking for someone with excellent relationship-building skills, strong Excel and data analysis abilities, and a continuous improvement mindset. In this role, you’ll have the chance to put your own stamp on the position by driving process improvements, producing detailed fuel usage reports, and identifying key areas for optimisation. Additionally, you’ll contribute to exciting projects focused on creating a more sustainable and greener future through collaboration with suppliers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the smooth delivery and reconciliation of all bulk fuel for Calor’s bunkered storage, including AdBlue.
  • Manage and interrogate the fuel card system, tracking and reporting on vehicle fuel usage.
  • Monitor vehicle mileage/kilometre data for carbon reporting and vehicle lease management.
  • Produce periodic vehicle relocation plans to balance fleet mileage and avoid lease penalties.
  • Generate monthly fuel-related management information (MI) data for the Fulfilment team.
  • Investigate fuel discrepancies, potential shrinkage, and fuel usage issues.
  • Ensure that all bunker assets are maintained and calibrated in line with statutory requirements.
  • Manage supplier relationships, organising vehicle fuel device installations and ensuring system records are updated.
  • Provide driver fuel keys/cards, track lost cards, and control access to fuel systems and telematics data.
  • Visit fuel locations for audits and provide training to improve knowledge of fuel processes.

Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience in high-value purchasing and fuel management systems (e.g., Triscan or similar).
  • Exceptional analytical skills, with advanced Excel or other database software proficiency.
  • Experience in detailed report writing and identifying process and performance improvements.
  • Familiarity with SAP or similar systems, as well as telematics systems.
  • Ability to manage supplier relationships and address fuel system maintenance issues.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of vehicle technologies and fuel monitoring systems is highly desirable.
  • Ability to write policies and processes related to fuel management.
