Job Title: Functional ETF Business AnalystLocation: London (hybrid)Salary/Rate: Circa £500 per dayStart Date: 02/02/25Job Type: 12 month Contract - Outside IR35We have an exciting opportunity now available with one of our sector-leading consultancy clients! They are currently looking for a skilled Functional ETF Business Analyst to join their team for a twelve-month contract.Job Responsibilities/ObjectivesYou will be responsible for supporting the development and enhancement of ETF-related processes within the capital markets domain. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of ETF structures, trade life cycles, and the ability to bridge business requirements with technical solutions. 1. Business Analysis & Requirements Gathering:o Work closely with key stakeholders to define, gather, and document business requirements for ETF products and processes.o Analyze ETF product structures, trade lifecycle processes, and identify business opportunities or gaps within the existing system.o Elicit detailed requirements for ETF solutions related to trade execution, settlement, clearing, corporate actions, and asset servicing.2. Capital Markets & ETF Expertise:o Apply deep knowledge of capital markets, including the full trade lifecycle for ETFs (from trade execution to settlement and reconciliation).o Support the integration of ETF products with various capital markets platforms and systems.o Ensure that business processes, such as ETF creation/redemption, securities lending, and collateral management, align with industry standards and best practices.3. Trade Lifecycle Management:o Oversee the ETF trade lifecycle, including trade capture, order management, confirmation, settlement, and reconciliation.o Collaborate with the trading desk, operations, and technology teams to ensure smooth trade execution and lifecycle management for ETFs.o Support any ETF-related reconciliations between front, middle, and back-office systems.4. System & Process Optimization:o Identify areas where processes and systems related to ETFs and trade lifecycle management can be optimized or enhanced.o Provide recommendations to improve efficiency, reduce operational risk, and improve data accuracy across the trade lifecycle.o Support system upgrades, product enhancements, and process reengineering efforts to streamline ETF trade lifecycle operations.5. Stakeholder Engagement & Communication:o Act as a liaison between business users (e.g., portfolio managers, traders, operations teams) and technical teams (e.g., IT, software development).o Document functional specifications, user stories, and use cases related to ETF products and trade lifecycle requirements.o Ensure clear and effective communication of business requirements, challenges, and solutions to both business and technical teams.6. Regulatory & Compliance Awareness:o Ensure ETF processes comply with industry regulations, including reporting, tax, and securities laws.o Stay current with regulatory changes affecting ETFs and ensure that all necessary adjustments are made to internal processes and systems.7. Testing & Implementation:o Work closely with QA teams to ensure that business requirements are fully met in testing phases for ETF systems and processes.o Support user acceptance testing (UAT), ensuring that implemented solutions meet business needs and deliver the expected benefits.Required Skills/ExperienceThe ideal candidate will have the following:o Strong knowledge of ETFs, including creation/redemption mechanisms, arbitrage, and pricing.o Experience in trade lifecycle management for ETFs, including trade capture, confirmation, settlement, and reconciliation.o Familiarity with relevant financial systems, platforms, and tools (e.g., Bloomberg, Aladdin, FIS, etc.).o Proficiency in gathering and documenting business requirements, writing functional specifications, and performing gap analysis.o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.* Technical Skills:o Familiarity with data analysis and reporting tools (e.g., SQL, Excel, Power BI).o Exposure to agile project management methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) is a plus.Desirable Skills/ExperienceAlthough not essential, the following skills are desired by the client:* Deep experience in ETFs and their integration within broader capital markets workflows.* Understanding of financial regulations and compliance requirements impacting ETFs (e.g., MiFID II, UCITS, SEC regulations).* Experience with capital market platforms or trading systems such as Bloomberg, Fidessa, or TradeWeb.* Exposure to automation and digitalization projects in capital markets (e.g., robotic process automation, artificial intelligence).If you are interested in this opportunity, please apply now with your updated CV in Microsoft Word/PDF format.DisclaimerNotwithstanding any guidelines given to level of experience sought, we will consider candidates from outside this range if they can demonstrate the necessary competencies.Square One is acting as both an employment agency and an employment business, and is an equal opportunities recruitment business.
