An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and experienced Geography Teacher to join a prestigious independent school in Colchester. This role is for a January 2025 start, and the ideal candidate will have experience teaching Geography up to KS5. There is also the potential for the right candidate to be considered for the Head of Humanities role.

Set on a stunning parkland campus in Colchester, the school offers an enriching environment with plenty of space for outdoor activities, team sports, and informal socializing. As a Geography Teacher, you will have the unique opportunity to inspire students not only in the classroom but also in our newly developed outdoor experiential learning program, which emphasizes themes of ecology and nature. With a new outdoor classroom under construction, you will play a key role in ensuring that students experience the natural world as part of their education.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teach Geography across KS3, KS4, and KS5, inspiring students to engage with the subject
  • Contribute to the development of the school's new outdoor experiential learning program, introducing themes around ecology and nature
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons that encourage critical thinking and a love for Geography
  • Work closely with the Humanities Department, with the potential to take on the role of Head of Humanities
  • Support students in both academic and extracurricular activities, fostering a love for the outdoors
Requirements:
  • Qualified Geography Teacher with experience teaching up to KS5
  • Passionate about Geography and outdoor learning
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to inspire students of all abilities
  • A commitment to the ethos of independent education and a willingness to contribute to the wider school community
  • Experience in leadership is desirable for candidates interested in the Head of Humanities role
