Job Description :

An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a Senior FME Geospatial Specialist to join an innovative data-led solutions provider during a period of significant growth. This role will focus heavily on leveraging FME (Feature Manipulation Engine) to aggregate, manage, join, and interrogate complex and varied datasets, ensuring the delivery of high-quality data insights and solutions. You will be at the forefront of driving key data and modelling projects, working on cutting-edge geospatial data products, and supporting the development of innovative data solutions to enhance decision-making processes.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Drive the delivery of technical data projects by understanding requirements, designing solutions, and developing systems based on FME to integrate, manipulate, and analyse complex geospatial and non-geospatial data.
  • Use FME for automating workflows, spatial ETL (Extract, Transform, Load), spatial analytics, and data integration to produce actionable insights from diverse datasets.
  • Design, implement, and support the development of innovative data solutions involving geospatial data analytics, automation, and data science.
  • Prepare and maintain formal technical, functional, and user documentation for third-party approval and system handovers.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains, leveraging FME and other GIS tools to streamline operations.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver sophisticated data analysis and actionable insights, facilitating informed decision-making across the organisation.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in the use of FME for spatial data management, integration, and analysis.

Skills & Experience:

  • FME Expertise: Advanced experience with FME, including spatial ETL processes, data aggregation, management, and interrogation of complex datasets (3 years +)
  • Geospatial Data Skills: Strong background in geospatial data manipulation, integration, and analytics, using GIS software such as QGIS, ESRI, and MapInfo.
  • Experience in data integration, including automating technical workflows, validating spatial data, managing metadata, and ensuring data quality.
  • Proficiency in databases, SQL, and optimisation techniques; experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL/PostGIS is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of data analysis tools, including BI and ETL platforms like Tableau, Power BI, or similar.
  • Familiarity with coding languages and scripting is advantageous for task automation and advanced data manipulation.
  • Commercial awareness, with the ability to translate complex data findings into clear, actionable insights.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
  • A proactive approach to identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements and developing innovative data products.

Additional Requirements:

  • Willingness to work in a hybrid model, with one day per week required for project meetings in central England.
