Role Summary
The Field Technical Engineer is responsible for supporting emerging technology lines by providing expert clinical consultation, teaching and support on the use of all Abbott Medical products and its appropriate application in the clinical setting
Roles and Responsibilities
- Maintain up to date technical knowledge, relevant to the assigned Division, of current and new ABT therapies and technologies as well as a general understanding of the dynamics of the country healthcare market.
- Provide technical support and assistance to the sales force, physicians and allied professionals for EP case support throughout the whole national territory.
- Act as back-up to Product Marketing and Product Managers for the monitoring and correct reporting of product incidents in line with ABT standard procedures.
- Provide operative support for product development programmes when requested
- Analyse the technical characteristics of competitors' devices and products, contribute information to maintain the Marketing database.
- Promote assigned ABT product lines and assist with market penetration and the establishment of new accounts by providing technical and professional support to EMEA sales and customer personnel.
- Conduct product presentations and perform stand duty at exhibitions when requested, responding to technical questions that might be raised by EMEA or customer personnel.
- Provide training on the application of new products within the EP division.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Individuals will ideally have a B.S. degree in Engineering or related Sciences and experience with medical devices of a similar nature to that of Electrophysiology and the EnSite System portfolio.
- Individuals will ideally have electrophysiology/ cardiac rhythm management or equivalent clinical experience.
- All Technical Specialists must be able to formally present and discuss the features, advantages and clinical benefits of all our products and to compare their performance with competitive alternatives; and must project a professional image, have strong communication and leadership skills, and be of sound ethical character.
- Strong Communication Skills: Verbal and Written
- Familiarity with cath lab and operating room procedures and protocol
- Strong Cardiac Anatomy & Physiology knowledge; especially electro-physiology
- Experience with programmable medical devices and software based medical systems
- Knowledge of the capital equipment sales and hospital based approval process
- Management and support of post-market approval clinical studies
- Good PC utilization skills to include: MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint and Email
- A strong team player, excellent verbal and written communication skills, good presenter and trainer, interpersonal skills and results orientated.
