Job Description :

Group Financial Reporting Accountant required to support the group finance team and its ability to produce robust, timely, and commercially focused internal and external financial reporting.

Although the central focus of the role is external financial reporting, the role will also be asked to support the work of the Group Management Accounts Team in the preparation of monthly management accounts.

Description

Key Responsibilities

External Financial Reporting

* Support the Deputy Group Financial Controller and Group Financial Reporting and Corporate Projects Accountant in planning, coordinating and project managing the half-year and year-end close processes, including reporting from divisional finance managers and interaction with tax, treasury and other colleagues

* Assist with the preparation of the annual Group and subsidiary statutory accounts (FRS 102).

* Support the joint venture companies year-end audit process.

* Support day-to-day requirements of the external auditors, including coordination of information provision by colleagues.

* Assist with the provision of financial and other information to the Group's finance team.

* Assist with other external financial reporting projects.

Internal Financial Reporting / Management Accounting

* Assist with preparation of financial reporting to senior management regarding financial performance, variances, and trends.

* Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts, which may involves analysis of data, preparation and posting of journals in SAP and quality review of reported information (training using SAP will be provided), working directly with divisional and other colleagues.

* Provide ad hoc support as required to the Group Management Accounts Team Leader, which may include day to day management reporting activities.

Financial / Corporate Projects

* Support the Deputy Group Financial Controller and Group Financial Reporting and Corporate Projects Accountant with ad hoc financial / corporate projects; this might include, for example, changes of accounting standards (e.g FRS 102 lease accounting / UK GAAP to IFRS).

* Support the coordination of the work of professional advisors engaged by the Group on financial related matters e.g. grant audits.

Group Finance / Other Team Projects + Continuous Improvement

* Work alongside the Deputy Group Financial Controller, and others as appropriate, to ensure the delivery of important projects involving, or led by, other members of the wider Group Finance team or other teams through effective project management; such projects might include, for example, those intended to deliver process / procedural improvements.

* On ad hoc basis, take ownership of individual projects within the area of systems and process development, working with internal colleagues and external specialists to see these through to successful implementation.

* Proactively identify opportunities to develop and improve internal and external reporting and supporting systems and processes.

* Assist with the preparation of process and controls documentation across Group Finance.

Treasury and Tax

* Assist with coordination and provision of Group Finance support to the Group Treasurer and Group

Profile

  • Accountancy qualifications (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Good knowledge of UK GAAP.
  • Knowledge and experience of year end audit reporting processes and preparation/review of statutory financial statements.
  • Relevant management accounting experience.
  • Excellent organisational skills, including the ability to work to deadlines and prioritise tasks.
  • 'Can do' attitude and a creative and agile approach to problem solving.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Strong IT skills, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Knowledge of SAP would be advantageous but not essential

Job Offer
