Job Description :

Our client is a market leader in providing engineered solutions for the handling and treatment of water and wastewater. Operating across the UK, Europe, and the US, their business spans multiple industries, delivering advanced solutions in pumping, on-site water treatment, wet waste processing, and pollution prevention.

Due to significant business growth, we are seeking an experienced Group ProcurementDirector to transform and lead the procurement function across multiple sites. This role will be pivotal in implementing a centre-led procurement operation that drives collaborative buying, operational efficiency, and cost optimisation.

The role will involve hands-on leadership to develop procurement processes, frameworks, and operational practices, ensuring the business continues to grow efficiently.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive procurement strategy that supports all global business units, ensuring alignment with the company's long-term objectives.
  • Lead the procurement function, working with 2 direct reports and coordinating a matrix structure across 4 business entities.
  • Manage the procurement and supply chain budget, focusing on cost control, financial efficiency, and strategic sourcing.
  • Oversee and optimise inventory levels, ensuring they align with global demand requirements and operational needs.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement across procurement processes, technologies, and operational practices.
  • Lead cost optimisation initiatives through strategic sourcing, process improvements, and contract management.
  • Establish and enforce procurement policies and procedures, ensuring robust governance and compliance across all activities.
  • Mentor and develop a high-performing procurement team, fostering a collaborative culture focused on results and continuous improvement.
  • Take ownership of supplier selection, contract negotiation, and performance management, ensuring the supply chain remains robust and resilient.
  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies that secure high-quality materials and services at competitive prices.
  • Ensure procurement practices adhere to industry standards, regulatory requirements, and the company's sustainability objectives.

The successful candidate will take ownership of the overall procurement strategy and operations across the UK, Europe, and the US, working closely with key stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of the procurement function across the business.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Extensive experience in purchasing, buying, procurement, or sourcing, preferably within Engineering, Manufacturing, Rental, Utilities or Construction industry.
  • Demonstrated success in leading procurement functions for businesses with a comparable scale, ideally around a £250m+ turnover, with multi-site operations across the UK, Europe, and the US.
  • Proven ability to establish and implement a group procurement function from the ground up, with experience managing a matrix setup and leading a team, including direct reports.
  • Expertise in procurement within sectors such as manufacturing, equipment rental, or construction-related industries.
  • Strong leadership skills, with a focus on strategic sourcing, supplier management, and driving procurement transformation.
  • Skilled in developing and executing procurement strategies that integrate advanced technology and innovative practices.
  • Comprehensive experience managing both direct and indirect procurement categories at a regional or global level.
  • Adept at negotiating contracts and managing supplier relationships, ensuring optimal performance and value.
  • Comfortable working in dynamic, rapidly growing environments, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and change effectively.
  • Proficiency with procurement tools and platforms, including Spend Analytics, Contract Management, and P2P systems.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to foster collaboration across cross-functional teams.

Duration: Permanent

Salary: Competitive, based on experience
