Working as part of a team the Head Chef role is responsible for managing all aspects of the catering departing including managing a team to provide a reliable and high level of service to meet the business needs and providing culinary duties including creating varied menus, placing orders, and producing a range of quality and healthy meals for Reed Business School delegates.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage and nurture the catering team
- Regularly review suppliers to obtain good value procurement and quality produce
- Create inspiring, nutritious and varied menus
- Prepare food to a high standard, meeting planned course meal break deadlines appropriate for the scheduled catering numbers
- Oversee, check deliveries and sign off invoices
- Oversee and manage hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen
- Manage catering equipment and seek quotations for repairs/renewals
- Ensure compliance with applicable health and hygiene codes and regulations
- Plan and execute special events as required for the business
Key Skills and Experience
- Minimum 12 months relevant experience
- Formal culinary training
- Food and hygiene qualification
- Experience managing a team
- Ability to work well under pressure and time constraints
- Flexible to meet alternative dietary requirements
- Knowledge of different varieties of foods and ingredients
