Head of Facilities

- Temporary: 6 Month Contract
- Pay: £31.80 to £34.91 per hour (£57,869 to £63,540 per annum)
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Head of Facilities to manage all premises and deliver a professional, customer-focused Facilities Management service across various departments. This role is integral to ensuring operational excellence in property and facilities management within a dynamic educational environment.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Oversee property management including property search, lease negotiation, and contract management across multiple locations.
- Ensure all buildings are safe, clean, and operationally ready for staff and members, managing security systems, space efficiency, and utilities.
- Lead the Health and Safety operations, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations, and manage risk assessments.
- Handle contract management for facilities services such as catering, cleaning, and maintenance, ensuring competitive pricing and competent service delivery.
- Conduct annual insurance reviews and maintain asset registers and property valuations.
- Manage and monitor a facilities budget of approximately £1.5M.
- Direct and develop the Facilities team to provide high-quality service, covering all aspects from staff management to event coordination.
- Act as the landlord representative for tenant liaison, ensuring smooth operations and management of facilities-related issues.
- Champion sustainability initiatives in line with the organisation’s strategy and objectives to minimize environmental impact.
- Maintain and test Business Continuity plans to ensure they are up-to-date and effective.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven track record in operational facilities management, ideally within an events management or membership organisation context.
- Strong experience in property management, ensuring compliance and managing property compliance registers.
- Excellent organisational, management, and leadership skills.
- Proficient in contractor management across various facilities domains.
- In-depth understanding of statutory compliance including health and safety, fire safety, and environmental health.
- Demonstrable experience in budget monitoring and event management.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of managing and motivating a team.
- Ability to negotiate effectively and build professional rapport with all stakeholders.
