This exciting and varied role is perfect for someone who is flexible, organised, and has a "can-do" attitude. With the gallery open Wednesday to Sunday, you'll be part of a friendly and professional team, creating an inspiring experience for both visitors and colleagues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Gallery Supervision: You will oversee the gallery spaces, ensuring the safety and security of artworks while offering a warm welcome to visitors. You'll be the go-to person for both the public and fellow team members, creating a positive and engaging atmosphere.
- Visitor Experience: Take pride in delivering outstanding customer service, answering questions, and making each visit memorable. You'll be hands-on in helping with event setup and managing private viewings, including occasional overtime when needed.
- Health & Safety Champion: Prioritise the safety of all visitors, ensuring clear and efficient procedures are followed. In case of emergencies, you'll manage evacuation and assist with security-related matters, always ensuring the well-being of everyone in the space.
- Facilities Management: You'll help maintain the gallery's facilities by reporting and addressing any issues that arise. Working with external contractors, you'll ensure the space is running smoothly and efficiently.
- Daily Operations: Be responsible for opening and closing the gallery, managing rotas for the team, and maintaining detailed records, including incident logs, visitor footfall, and weekend debriefs. You'll also assist with sales, handling transactions for catalogues and merchandise with ease.
- Additional Duties: There may be times when you'll take on extra tasks, from responding to phone inquiries to assisting with any special projects the gallery may have.
Skills & Experience:
- Previous customer service or retail experience is a plus - we're looking for someone with a friendly approach and a solution-driven mindset.
- Confidence in managing your own workload while being an excellent team player.
- A keen eye for health and safety protocols, ensuring the public's safety at all times.
- A great communicator with the ability to build rapport and engage with a wide range of people.
- Previous experience in a supervisory role, especially in a gallery, museum, or retail environment, would be beneficial but is not essential.
